Halloween is a traditional western festival, celebrated on October 31. It is also known as "All Hallow's Eve" and "All Saints' Day". The word "Halloween" comes from a Gaelic phrase meaning "night of the saints", referring to the time when the boundaries between the sacred and profane, the living and the dead, are believed to be particularly porous. Traditionally, Halloween began after sunset, and long ago, people believed that witches gathered together and ghosts roamed the world on Halloween. Today, most people no longer believe in ghosts and witches, but these supernatural beings are still a part of Halloween.万圣节是西方的传统节日，在10月31日庆祝。

Halloween's Origins万圣节的起源Halloween's origins can be traced back to ancient Celtic harvest festivals,called Samhain, in which the Celts ritually ended the summer harvest season and ushered in the winter season.
